What % of "made in America" car parts are really made in America, GM seems to import most of the components?

I worked for a part supplier for some time, we were under constant pressure from the OEM s to use off shore suppliers for things like bolts and to shift work to China or Eastern Europe where labour is cheaper. So if I bought a "made in America" car how much of the parts not just the assembly come from the USA?|||I don't have actual numbers, but if you look on the sticker of a brand new car, it will usually show where it was assembled, where the engine was manufactured, and where the transmission was manufactured. If you can get all three of those to be USA, then that's a start.|||It depends on the brand and even model. The Toyota Matrix is made in the US alongside the Pontiac Vibe, both using Toyota engines.

The fact is, America doesn't make the best products across the board anymore. Making a car with components from around the world may be a better quality than one made from all US parts. It could also result in a worse quality. There's no good and fast rule to it these days.|||I live in Iowa and I know of 4 manufacturing plants in about a 75 mile area that makes car parts for American cars, so I imagine there are allot more scattered around the country.|||Y is this important to you ?

will this be the deciding factor on weather you gonna buy a G.M. product ?|||The cars are just put together here.
