I have a 1986 Toyota MR2 that has been sitting in a covered garage for about 15 years. It has plenty of mechanical issues and what not, but what parts of the car could have gone bad just from sitting in a a damp garage (I'm not sure how the water got in). I'm currently thinking most of the rubber parts of the car such as belts are ruined because of this. If you know please tell me what parts may be damaged.
-Thank you|||Frame could be pretty rusty. Brake lines will be rusty. All nuts / bolts will have rust on them, etc.
Moisture and a car that doesn't move is not a good thing.|||real question is what you want to do..spend 10 to 15K to get it running...thats what it wuill take [if you r lucky]//after 15 yrs theres not much that doesnt need to be replaced,,dont think for a few hundred you;; get it running and drive off into the sunset..|||Dead battery, engine seized and will never run again, rust, starter, transmition, bad gas in tank, lines, collaborator or fuel injector, seized brakes, tires, and belts.
It sounds to me like it is better to scrap it and start over.
