I am opening a car parts business. I am gonna buy cars, strip them and sell. How can I price parts?

Knowing the cost of the car, and how much I intend to make out of it, is there a way I can figure out suitable prices for the parts, for example: motor %30??|||Look on craigslist and eBaym|||Parting out cars is a BAD idea to make money since most people barely break even when they do part out a car. Established wrecking yards make tons of money. The car salvage business is the most profitable business!!! But only if your a established yard. The internet is packed full of private one party ads for used parts or parting out posts and almost always the parts are not worth much at all and very few are sold. Yes there are some cars that car fetch a lot of money parted out but since you don't sound like you know every make model and year and what actually has value you should not even try.

People talk about "rare" cars while there are SOME rare cars out there most of them are rare only for the reason they didn't sell well or they all were so crappy they went to the scrap heap years and years ago. Now the only rare cars that can make even a decent profit are 60 to 100 years old. And even those cars have been picked pretty clean and truly are a rare find.

Also the internet is packed full of people who basically want to "steal" parts from people. Usually anyone who responds to an ad has a project car at home that he is no hurry to get finished. These guys enjoy looking for parts and offer ridiculously low money for the parts, all so they can say how they "stole" the parts he needed to fix the car up. They are quite literally the scum of the car parts buying crowd. Where the real money is right now in used cars is in the metals they are made of. Right now the prices paid for scrap metal is high. Some cars catalytic converters can be worth more than you paid for the car itself.

Time and time again people get your idea and giev it a try and find it only cost them money.|||Sounds like you don't have the first clue what you are doing.

Junkyards tend to price parts at about half of new. U pull it places less than that.

For YOU to sell parts, you would have to price your parts at about 50-75% of a junkyards prices. Or 25-37% of what they cost new.

Even then, you will find that your parts wont sell oftentimes.
